Spilman Farming Year

Scanning Time!

We scan all our pregnant ewes this month – to see how many lambs will be arriving in the spring.

Lambing Live!

Our pregnant ewes begin to lamb this month... our new mums live indoors until it is warm enough for them to be turned out.

Start of the season!

We open our cafe and farm shop this month for the season.

Mother's day!

Our special afternoon tea event is a super way to treat mum! Send us a message to ask for details.

Asparagus is here!

Picked fresh from the field that morning, and on our cafe tables by lunchtime... You cant get much fresher than that!

Celebrate Easter with us! Look out for Egg-cellent events on our whats on page.

Planting Time!

As asparagus comes to a close, the strawberries are planted this month for Pick Your Own customers the following summer. Cattle are turned out as the weather starts to improve.

Soft Fruits are here!

Strawberries and gooseberries are ripening and will be ready to pick this month. Spring Lamb is ready for Pasture Lane Meat. We shear our sheep this month, to sell their fleeces and so they are nice and cool for the summer months.

Strawberries Everywhere!

It’s strawberry time!

We are busy picking lots of soft fruits including strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, and blackcurrants. Our wild flower turf also starts to be lifted.

Come and see us at the GYS and sample our strawberries on the show ground.

Come along to the farm and have a go at our famous maze. This corn crop is cut into a magical mythical creature for all the family to enjoy getting lost in!

Blackberries are ripe and ready this month, just as the strawberry and raspberry season comes to a close. This is a busy time for our Arable crops as we busy harvesting them all.

PYO sunflowers are ready!

Pumpkins are harvested!

Tupping starts on the farm this month for our lambing season to start in the spring. All our soft fruit has now come to a close. We cut the pumpkins from the vine this month ready for 1st October.

PYO Pumpkin Season

Halloween is getting close and there are lots of pumpkins on the farm for the Pumpkin Festival. Fodder Beet is harvested this month.

Halloween Event runs throughout the month of October.

Free tractor rides on Festival Days.

The season is now finished and our cafe and farm shop close this month

The tups have come out of the field now. We are still busy harvesting fodder beet and tending to our flock of sheep and sending them to market.

Walking in a winter wonderland

A chilly but busy month! Lots of important maintenance jobs happen in the winter. Repairing machinery and fences keep our farm and the animals running smoothly and safely!
